Family-friendly Destinations in Peoria, Illinois

The Peoria Area provides a wealth of good times for your whole family.

Peoria, Illinois is the largest city located on the banks of the Illinois River, and offers a number of of parks, shopping malls, and various other places for family-friendly entertainment.

Below are six different destinations in Peoria that offer tons of fun for the whole family.

Peoria River Front

If you want to have some adventure as well as fun, this is the ideal place. Take a ride in the "Spirit of Peoria" paddle boat, watch the giant screen theater shop for some antiques and grab a bite along with your kids. Glen Oak Zoo

This Peoria zoo has over 100 species of reptiles, mammals, amphibians, fish and birds. It features the simulation of African grasslands that houses white rhino and giraffe, which is 17 feet tall. You can also see the endangered species of monkeys and red river hogs that live here. If you are planning to visit during the summer, you can enjoy a stay in the zoo snooze camp. Your kids can also indulge in the tree top classroom, which offers an excellent view of the giraffe barn located below.

Peoria Riverfront Museum 

This Peoria Riverfront Museum is popular among all the tourists of Peoria as it offers the families plenty of exhibitions or shows. There are over 600 art works of three centuries at the Midwestern Folk Art Gallery. Your kids would thoroughly enjoy the exhibition in Discover Center the kid's specific museum.

You can also learn about the significance of historical places and have a look at the unique sculptures, figurines, paintings, folk art, furniture used at the ancient times, art of Native Americans, minerals and rocks of archaeological importance. Do not miss the laser light shows organized by the planetarium every day. The kids just love it!

Apple Blossom Farm

A trip to Peoria is not complete until you visit the apple blossom farm. Pick pumpkins after enjoying a free hayride while your kids can enjoy the petting zoo.
