Film Beyond Glory Piques Interests of Area Veterans

While Peoria has yet to host a screening of Beyond Glory, a compelling performance documentary that's sweeping the nation's film scene (especially the war genre,) there are many area veterans who are on the edge of their seats just waiting to see the film.
Film Beyond Glory

So what's all the buzz about Beyond Glory? Below we take a closer look at the screenwrite adaptation that making the roster of many film festivals throughout the U.S.

Produced by 8180 Films, an independent film company based in northern Michigan, film director Larry Brand worked closely with lead actor Stephen Lang to adapt the film Beyond Glory from the popular play that's been around since 2004. Beyond Glory is narrated by Gary Sinise, a war film aficionado, and features the personal stories of eight war veterans from World War II, Korea and Vietnam.

The Background Behind Beyond Glory

Stephen Lang was highly involved in the initial plays that were adapted from journalist Larry Smith’s book, Beyond Glory. It is this book and the thrilling theatrical plays by Lang and his co-actors that brought about the production of this heroic film. In fact, Larry Smith describes his book as an inspiration and testament to the courage of the American nation through the voices of the eight heroes.

Stephen Lang performed the play in military bases and civilian playhouses before it was adapted into the valiant movie. The eight veterans narrate their experience in acts of valor that resulted in them get the nation’s highest military award, the Medal of Honor.

In the film, the eight recipients of the nation’s highest honor for valor in combat are greatly recognized for the sacrifices they made for their country. It was quite clear from the start that Stephen Lang, who is best known for his role in Avatar as the villainous Colonel Quaritch, would play a key role in Beyond Glory film. This is because of the central role he played in theatrical performances involving the Beyond Glory book as tribute to fallen soldiers.

Upcoming Screenings of Beyond Glory

Beyond Glory has gained a lot of recognition in mainstream media and film community. Of its recent inclusions in film festival line-ups throughout the U.S., GIFFX (GI Film Festival) in Washington D.C. will screen the film Beyond Glory on May 28th, 2016 at exactly 5:40 PM.
GIFFX Screening of Beyond Glory Film

This is a great achievement considering that the film was produced by an indie film production company with limited budget. GIFFX is also scheduled to feature Stephen Lang and Gary Sinise as guests later during the festival. This is to profile the two's exemplary performance in making Beyond Glory the brilliant performance documentary film it is today. Sinese will also perform in the Lieutenant Dan Band to kick-off the festival.

Sinise is a noted advocate for veterans and therefore used his wealth of experience working closely with war heroes to chip in new twists in the film. It is quite clear that without Lang and Gary, Beyond Glory would not have had the wide recognition from film community it has had so far. The two have played a key role in making the film what it is: a testament of courage of the American nation.
